Work and Research

Malaria is still endemic in most part of the world especially Sub-Saharan Africa. Treatment of the disease is based on ACTs, however, resistance to these drugs is a major concern. Several proteins have been detected to be essential to the parasite and hence identifying compounds that targets these proteins can help feed the drug discovery pipeline. In silico approaches are one of the safest, fastest and efficient way of screening large data sets for potent compounds. My research focused on using bioinformtic approaches to study protein used by the parasite for survival in its host and identify potent antimalarial compounds against them
