Work and Research

I earned a Master’s degree in Biotechnology where I specialized in molecular taxonomy of the yeasts. I completed a PhD studying virulence factors responsible for causing fungal diseases in humans. I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) (affiliated with Small Grain Institute in the Free State, but I was based at ARC-Onderstepoort Veterinary Institute, Biotech Platform). At ARC I participated in various research projects, writing of grant proposals and scientific articles, as well as student mentorship and supervision. I am presently a postdoctoral fellow at South African Sugarcane Research Institute.
