DESCRIPTION:Future Africa invites you to the African Political Ecologies Learning Lab\, hosted by Professor Maano Ramutsindela\, the UP–UCT Future Africa Research Chair in Sustainability Transformations\, in partnership with the Future Earth Leadership Centre. \nDate: Thursday\, 23 October 2025\nTime: 09:00 to 16:00 SAST\nLocation: Online via Zoom. Please register using this LINK to attend\nEnquiries: Contact Dr Claire Chagwiza at claire.chagwiza@futureafrica.science \n\nThe critiques of the Western canon on the relations between society and nature and the consequent practices are useful but have not gone far enough to provide global themes in tune with the African condition. What is the blueprint for how and why we should research the society-nature relations from African(ist) perspectives? How do those perspectives advance progressive policies? The learning lab will engage these questions through an interdisciplinary lens to delineate the scope and directions of African political ecologies (APEs). The main outcome of this engagement is to develop a virtual learning lab for APEs. \n\nHosted by: \n \nProf Maano Ramutsindela is a Professor of Human Geography at the University of Cape Town\, and also holds the UP-UCT Future Africa Research Chair in Sustainability Transformations. His research explores socioecological relations and the political ecology of peace parks. Read more
