Work and Research

I have a PhD in Water Resources Science obtained from Rhodes University in South Africa (2018). I am a Future Africa Research Fellow at the University of Pretoria. I am passionate about solving freshwater quality threats brought by anthropogenic activities. I use drone technology to gather large data sets of water quality to assess effects of chemicals in ecosystems to protect humans and the environment. I have developed and published water quality guidelines for various inorganic salts (as models of freshwater salinisation) and acid mine drainage, common ecological problems in semi-arid and many mining (coal and gold) regions. I am fascinated about why some aquatic organisms are more vulnerable than others to exposure of chemicals given same environmental conditions.
