Work and Research
My interest is the pharmacological evaluation of invasive plants and their endophytes with medicinal potentials, for the treatment of opportunistic infections such as urinary and gastrointestinal tracts infections and tuberculosis. I am currently involved in the discovery of drug targets, for the treatment of urinary tract infections through an understanding of the mechanisms through which bacteria adhere to epithelial receptors, factors promoting adhesion, and the development of molecular targets from natural products as disruptors of possible toxin-receptor interactions mediating infection in host cells. A further interest is the safety assessment, characterization and identification of target drugs and study of their mechanisms of actions.
