Work and Research
My research area focuses on cardiovascular disease (CVD), the leading cause of death in the world. Despite the high burden of CVD in the MENA countries, there is a dearth of CVD research. In my research, I dissect the mechanism underlying some CVDs, aiming at identifying potential targets for treatment of CVD.
Another line of my research reports the medicinal value of herbs (herbal extracts and herb- derived compounds). These herbs, rich in bioactive compounds, are native to MENA countries. Contextually, the increased interest in herbal medicine is due to the plant availability and affordability.
