Work and Research

The research work I am mostly interested in involves the study, development, and application of probability distributions. These are underlying mathematical structures that dictate the probabilistic behaviour of real life events and experimental outcomes, useful for modeling, forecasting, and decision making. Our research group at UP, StatDisT, has developed a keen research interest of development of probability distributions relevant to communications systems design and analysis (the MIMO environment), Bayesian modeling for multivariate models, and autoregressive modeling; and have a strong cohort of postgraduate students and academics contributing to the knowledge field in this area from a fundamental statistical point of view.

Biographical summary

In my comparatively short research career, the outputs I have obtained at this current point in time is significant and valuable. I obtained my PhD in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Pretoria and regularly publish in peer-reviewed accredited journals. I have been the recipient of a variety of research prizes at conferences I have attended, and exposure to youth summits and other UP involvements has- and continues to shape my everyday thinking which is intrinsically linked to my research approach- and mind.
