Work and Research

I joined the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2013 as a Pharmacology Lecturer and neuropharmacology/neuroscience researcher. I obtained my PhD in 2013 from KNUST. My doctoral research, focused on scientifically validating the traditional use of Antiaris toxicaria (Moraceae) as an anticonvulsant in the Ghanaian traditional society. It was through this study that I earned my first, first-author peer-reviewed paper. During that same time, I conducted ethnopharmacological investigation into lesser explored medicinal plants which find use traditionally in the management of diseases of the central nervous system (CNS) such as depression and anxiety disorders. The goal was to understand how these natural products affect the basic mechanisms of neurological diseases.
