Work and Research

I am a young researcher who is nationally acknowledged by my peers in the field of neuroanatomy. Over the past three years I have positioned myself within my role as an autonomous researcher, postgraduate supervisor and coordinator of the BSc Honours programme (Section of Clinical Anatomy) with the view to increase my research output in the years to come and to continue to promote research in the field of neuroanatomy. I am in the process of establishing myself as an internationally recognized researcher, with a strong focus in neuroanatomy with continuing emphasis on the anatomy of peripheral nerve for safe and accurate performance of regional nerve blocks.

Research Profiles

My vision for the future of research at UP and how I will contribute to this development

I feel that I can make a positive contribution to the research being done in the field of basic medical sciences and anatomy, specifically. This research can be directly implemented in many surgical and clinical specialties – making anatomical research an exceptionally collaborative field of study and research. I feel that collaborative research – especially between the basic and clinical sciences – is essential to ensure that the University of Pretoria achieve focused and well defined research goals that will lead to respected scientific outputs, but more importantly lead to improved patient care and an advancement in the current knowledge. Being part of the TYRLP will help me hone the skills necessary to plan and conduct collaborative research that will make an impact locally, on the African continent and perhaps even world-?wide.
