Work and Research

My love for research started in 2003 when, as student, I started being exposed to research projects. However, my career started in 2006 when, after obtaining the degree in Veterinary Medicine, I joined the laboratory of reproductive biotechnologies of the same university. After one year, when I was admitted to the PhD program, I was asked to focus on nutrition rather than reproduction. Thus I started evaluating the different aspects that can affect reproduction, especially nutrition and metabolic status. Currently I’m involved (as Principal investigator and/or as collaborator) in a number of research projects.

My vision for the future of research at UP and how I will contribute to this development

Research at UP and in South Africa should be supported by national and international collaborations integrating different fields in order to produce outputs of high quality and impact. Being a foreigner and having had worked in different countries I believe I could  provide a valuable contribution to the research in South Africa.
