Research Profiles

My vision for the future of research at UP and how I will contribute to this development

I believe that the University of Pretoria has the potential to become the leading research intensive university in South Africa and to obtain a much higher world ranking. In order to do this, more publications are required, especially high quality publications. Researchers should be encouraged and supported to grow in stature and to obtain better NRF rankings. Furthermore, more students should enroll for a masters or PhD to create a new pipeline of academics. Here the supervisor will play an important role to ensure that the student remains passionate about research and that the student can obtain the necessary skills to become an established researcher after obtaining their degree.
