Work and Research
I have always been interested to know more about how students learn. Therefore, in 2008 I decided to join a biochemistry education research group. It was at this point that I got exposed to various learning theories and I also became part of a project that investigated the usefulness of animations in enhancing student understanding. The results of this project helped the instructor modify and improve how he taught biochemistry, specifically the glycolysis pathway. Since then, I have worked on various discipline-based education research projects, these include student misconceptions of biochemical concepts, the use of models to promote conceptual understanding, assessment design, validation and implementation, curriculum design, validation, implementation and evaluation.
