Work and Research
My research is focused on population genomics of malaria parasites and other infectious pathogens. We employ genomics to effect and affect knowledge and approaches for elimination of malaria. My groups experience spans from cell biology of malaria parasite invasion of red blood cells and mechanisms of antimalarial resistance. With genome sequencing and innovative data analyses approaches, we seek to determine relatedness and transmission of malaria, identifying markers of adaptation for genetic epidemiology studies. These research themes are met through collaboration across Africa and networks such as the Plasmodium Diversity Network Africa and the Pan African Malaria Genetic Epidemiology Network.
