Work and Research

I hold an M.Sc. and PhD in Natural Products Technology and Value Chains. My MSc. and PhD work focused on neglected food species and their potential to improve the nutrition and dietary quality of vulnerable groups special emphasis People Living with HIV/ AIDs (PLWHA) and Pregnant women. With the Carnegie Early Career Research Leader Fellowship, my research focus is bioactive compounds from the Sausage tree “Kigelia africana (Lam.) Benth.” and their potential to stop proliferation and kill cancer cells, effect on proteomes, ultrastructural characteristics and ability to inhibit mushroom tyrosinase and porcine pancreatic elastase enzymes. My major interest is partaking society changing research especially the burden of non-communicable diseases in African societies.
