Work and Research
My research focuses on bio-control measures of forest invasive insect pests. Forest pests are a dominant threat to forest health as they potentially act as vectors (pathogenic fungi) to disease causing organisms. Invasive insect pests such as the emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis), ambrosia beetle (Xyleborus glabratus), the Asian longhorned beetle (Anoplophora glabripennis) and the polyphagous shot hole borer (PSHB) are all capable of infesting a wide range of tropical tree species within West Africa . Understanding insect-fungal associations is important for understanding pathogenic potential of these pests when they invade new areas, as lack of information could hinder proper deployment of mitigation strategies.
