Bio-resources and Environmental Biology:
I obtained my PhD degree from the Crop Protection Programme of the Department of Biological & Environmental Sciences, Saga University Campus of the Kagoshima Combined Graduate School of the Kagoshima University, Kagoshima, Japan. For my PhD thesis, I worked on elucidating the hormonal basis for the control of metamorphosis and wing dimorphism in the long distance migratory brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens), an insect pest of rice (Oryza sativa). My training included all areas of crop protection including entomology, bacteriology, mycology and nematology.
The three full length articles from my PhD thesis has yielded about 100 citations in high profile articles in high impact journals, so far, according to Google Scholar alerts.
