My vision for the future of research at UP and how I will contribute to this development
Due to development trends in South Africa, new and updated research methods are required to keep up with changes, complexities, and societal problems. Social science is needed to help us understand and deal with changes in the workforce and beyond. UP, as a research-intensive university has the mandate to play a part in dealing with and potentially solving these emerging issues. In this regard science at UP should always be evolving and requires a shift towards inter-disciplinary research collaboration, to try and effectively leverage the limited resources at our disposal in efficient ways. If I am provided with adequate research and leadership training and support via the TYRLP, I should be better placed to; stimulate research funding and increase the quality and quantity of research outputs; postgraduates and international participation in research; and reach out to people from the community who would benefit from the products of my research.
