My previous research spans from the role of specific nutrients and our susceptibility to disease, to how nutrition literacy can affect the community as a whole. I have earned my MSc and Ph.D. working on meticulously designed research projects that were aimed at decreasing the risk of cancer development and progression as well as fighting the affliction of Alzheimer’s disease, respectively, through the use of natural products and nutraceuticals. As a young African scientist with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Nutrition, I found myself in a unique position between the ability to have a career that encompasses technical research, and with just a little more qualification (Functional medicine degree), I will be able to be immersed in the clinical as well as the educational aspects of healthcare.
