In the year 2009, the United Nations declared Dr. Nelson Mandela’s birthday, which is celebrated on the 18th of July every year, as Nelson Mandela International Day. This annual international day is celebrated in recognition of the former South African President’s contribution to the culture of peace and freedom.

In honor of Dr. Mandela’s values and his dedication to the service to humanity, protection of human rights and especially the rights of children, we at Future Africa are dedicated to becoming part of a continuous global movement for good. Future Africa is doing a book drive, collecting new and used good quality books for children aged 6 to 8 years from N’wa-Vangani School. We will be giving a little of our time to making a little difference to the lives of the children by spending half the day with them.

In the context of the Nelson Mandela Day and in line with Dr. Mandela’s visions, Future Africa aspires to celebrate Nelson Mandela legacy on the 18th July by answering the call to make the world a better place. The idea is for everyone here in Future Africa to participate in raising future leaders. The book drive themed: “Read a book for a Child and Educate Every Child” will run until the end of July. We hope the drive will help us create awareness and revive the culture of reading to children in our communities.
