In celebration of World Food Day 2025, the Future Africa Research Leadership Fellowship (FAR-LeaF) Food Security Cluster invites you to a virtual panel discussion exploring how cross-disciplinary collaboration can drive sustainable and resilient food systems. This year’s theme, “Working Hand in Hand for Food System Transformation for a Better Future”, calls for collective action to build peaceful, sustainable, and food-secure societies. The event will bring together experts from across Africa in agriculture, consumer science, environmental geography, plant breeding, and social science to share insights and innovations for transforming agrifood systems.
Discussion Focus
The session will highlight how biophysical innovations such as improved plant varieties and urine fertiliser can complement social innovations like behavioural change, waste prevention, and community empowerment to achieve lasting impact.
The discussion will explore:
- Cross-disciplinary strategies for transforming agrifood systems
- Scientific and social innovations that strengthen food and nutrition security
- Collaborative approaches that link science, engineering, and community action for equitable access
Join us in commemorating World Food Day 2025 and exploring how collective innovation can help build a sustainable and food-secure future for all.
