Bio

Dr. Komolo is a legal practitioner and academic based out of Nairobi, Kenya, and currently the Principal Lecturer at the Kenya School of Law, and Visiting Assistant Professor, Strathmore Law School. His scholarship and practice focuses on International Trade Law; East Africa Regional Law; Employment/Labour Law; Public Private Partnerships (PPP); Arbitration/Mediation; Human Rights & Constitutional Law; Commercial Law; Judicial Reviews; Fisheries Law; Environmental Law; Law of the Sea; Law of Refugees and IDPs; and Law and Development/Political Economy generally. He has extensively advised clients and successfully argued cases before all courts in East Africa in these areas, practising as Dr. Komolo & Partners Advocates (www.komoloadvocates.com). Previously, Dr. Komolo was Coimbra Visiting Fellow (February - March ’21), Faculty of Law, KU Leuven; Resident Fellow at Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts (2018/19); Doctoral Fellow at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland (2014); Swire Scholar at the University of Hong Kong (2011-15); and Commonwealth Scholar at the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK (2009/10). In Kenya and across East Africa, Dr. Komolo is actively involved in collaborative research and public policy dissemination, and is a regular guest panelist for major radio and TV channels in Kenya and the region. His debates have gathered thousands of online viewership clicks on YouTube. Dr. Komolo is also the Editor-in-Chief, African Journal of Comparative Constitutional Law published by JUTA (juta.co.za), South Africa, on behalf of the Kenya School of Law. In this position, Dr. Komolo has led collaborative research whilst reviewing and publishing scholarly work by authors across Africa and the diaspora.
