Bio
With a Bachelor in Chemistry, a Masters in Food Science and Nutrition, and a PhD in Nutrition and Health, I believe that I have a unique set of expertise that allows me to see from molecular to policy level research. My research work aims to improve the nutritional status of mothers and children in Ethiopia and beyond. My work has helped characterize diets of women and young children, identify nutrient deficits, and suggest food-based solutions to improve diets and nutritional status. My work is the first to illustrate that contaminant iron from soil can be biologically useful, a finding that can possible revolutionize the design of fortification programs in low and middle income countries.
