Bio
I hold a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Pretoria and currently a Research Scientist and Coordinator at the University of the Witwatersrand. My research interests are in drug development and translational clinical research. In my current position, I am using my immunological and drug discovery expertise to explore medical ailments affecting the immune system in studies that have bench-to-bedside potential. I am specifically studying the immune profiles of patients with pancreatic cancer and acute pancreatitis and associated comorbidities such as HIV to identify biomarkers of disease progression that can inform management. As part of the pancreatic cancer research, I have an ongoing Joint NRF-South African/NCRST-Namibian Science and technology grant.
