Department of Forestry and Environment
With 9 years of professional experience, including 6 years as a Forest Engineer at the Ministry of Water and Forests and 3 years as a Junior Scientist in Agroforestry at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), my research career has been marked by notable accomplishments that set me apart from my peers at a similar stage. During my tenure, I actively engaged in research and development projects that have had a significant ecological impact. Some of these initiatives include Vision for Change, Initiative for Sustainable Landscape, and Hana Corridor. As an experienced engineer specializing in forestry, my research interests revolve around Fire Ecology, Climate Change, Forest Management, Agroforestry, Ecological Modeling, Wildfire, and Coastal and Vegetation Monitoring using GIS & Remote Sensing. Notably, while working at ICRAF, I spearheaded the agroforestry component and made valuable contributions to research aimed at enhancing the environment. This involved the integration of shade trees into farmer plots and testing the association of trees with cocoa trees. Additionally, I actively participated in deforestation monitoring studies in Côte d'Ivoire. When serving at the Ministry of Water and Forests, I have played a pivotal role in assessing the drivers and impacts of wildfires at the national level. Furthermore, I have been involved in drafting the Strategy for Integrated Fire Management and Prevention, contributing to the proactive mitigation of these destructive events. Currently, serving as a Lecturer at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Polytechnic Institute, I am providing lessons and lectures and conducting research in agroforestry and ecology. My research efforts have yielded tangible outcomes, as evidenced by my authorship and co-authorship of numerous scientific articles and conference papers. These publications have focused on the impact of climate change on wildfires, agroforestry adoption and the management of shade trees in cocoa farms, and deforestation in Côte d'Ivoire.
