Bio
I am a Professor in Postharvest Crop Preservation, with a firm focus on reducing postharvest losses and how the preservation of nutritious food can ultimately improve health and economic outcomes. My research contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals. Specifically, I lead research, foster partnerships and promote career opportunities in the Horticultural and Food sectors. I direct the postharvest and agroprocessing research unit at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Our vision is to become the centre of excellence in value-added postharvest research in metropolitan areas in Africa. My academic activities involve interactive teaching, research and community engagements on sustainable handling, and postharvest and agro-processing technologies to minimize food loss/
