Future Africa Interim Director Prof Wanda Markotter has called on early-career African researchers to build partnerships and take part in transdisciplinary research addressing some of the continent’s most pressing challenges.

Twenty-two Future Africa Research Leadership Fellowship (FAR-LeaF) fellows from ten African countries gathered at the University of Pretoria for their final workshop exploring research leadership, mentorship, academic publishing, networks and science communication.

Future Africa hosted a national simulation exercise bringing together stakeholders across human, animal and environmental health to test South Africa’s preparedness and response capabilities for an H5N1 avian influenza outbreak.
