A remarkable milestone is on the horizon for the University of Pretoria (UP). It’s flagship initiative, the Africa Science Leadership Programme (ASLP), hosted at Future Africa—UP's pan-African platform for collaborative research—marks its 10th anniversary.

Today, we celebrate World Food Day, highlighting the theme “Right to Food for a Better Life and Future.” At Future Africa, we support this message through our Sustainable Food Systems work, led by Research Chair Prof Frans Swanepoel.

Professor Wanda Markotter, a leading expert in zoonotic diseases and One Health at the University of Pretoria, has been re-elected for a second term as co-chair of the One Health High-Level Expert Panel (OHHLEP). The Quadripartite organisations confirmed this re-appointment in June 2024.

At the SRI 2024 Africa Satellite event, Professor Maano Ramutsindela highlighted the need for visionary leadership and regional collaboration to address Africa’s challenges in climate, food security, and water management.
