Bio

My research area is largely in Public Health, and more specifically in Environmental Health. Within Environmental health, my focus has been in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. For my Masters Programme, I investigated the effects of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene interventions on child health in a rural environment in Northern Kenya. This gave me more impetus to further pursue WASH aspects because at the time, most research funding was directed to Water. For my PhD studies, I investigated Socio economic dynamics of sanitation in informal settlements of a city in Kenya, concentrating on living conditions within the settlements, economic dynamics, decision making dynamics of sanitation, and finally adopting a Transdisciplinary approach to improve sanitation in settlements.
